The Lares Trek is a two or three day high altitude hike in Peru starting near the village of Lares. Lares is approximately 40 miles north of Cusco and 35 miles east of Machu Picchu The get to the start of the trek requires a bus or van trip of approximately 5 hours. Although it is sometimes advertised as an alternate for the Inca Trail, it is not near and does not lead to Machu Picchu. The Lares trek route transverses typical beautiful, pristine Peruvian Andean mountain areas.The indigenous people of this area speak Spanish and Quechua.

SECOND LARES TREK DAY: WACAWASI - IPSAYCOCHA After continuing up through the lares valley, we arrive to the community of Huacawasi. People here produce some of the finest weavings in Peru. Here, we can observe their great skills and brilliant techniques in the fabrication of ponchos and other garments. Passing the village we begin climbing up to Condor Pass, the second of the trip at 4300m.. From here, we catch a stunning view of the renowned Mount Veronica (5750m.) Descending gently for about one hour, we come to the beautiful Ipsaycocha Lake close to patacancha , our last campsite. |
| THIRD LARES TREK DAY: IPSAYCOCHA - PATACANCHA - WYLLOQ - PUMAMARKA - OLLANTAYTAMBO - AGUAS CALIENTES Today our lares trail leads downhill to an overlook facing a wide valley. Descending into the valley, we eventually arrive to the community of willoc where we have lunch, from here takes two hours to arrive to Pumamarka and enjoy the inca terraces, finally we arrive to Ollantaytambo. Situated in a fertile river valley and sheltered by mammoth mountains, this ancient Inca village is considered one of the most important living museums in the world. This is a perfect place to appreciate the vast archeological remains and a wide variety of flowers and birds species. The group takes the train at 4:50 pm or 6.00 pm see below please the timetable of the train .from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes and spends the night there in a comfortable hotel |

FOURTH LARES TREK DAY: AGUAS CALIENTES - MACHUPICCHU After an early breakfast, we'll take the bus up to Machu picchu, we register and start on our 3 hour guided visit. After enjoying the remains, we will take the bus down to Aguas Calientes where you will have free time to enjoy the town and have a lunch before we return to Cusco. |

• First Aid kit and Free Luggage storage. When you go on the trek it is best to leave any luggage that you are not going to need behind in Cusco. Nearly all the hotels in Cusco provide a secure luggage deposit. Put any valuables in their safe. Very rarely do hotels charge for this service especially if you are returning to the same hotel after the trek. If there are any problems with your hotel we can arrange to store your luggage at our Aymaras expeditions office.

NOTE:Train included in all tours is the Cerrojo-backpacker (from Ollantaytambo-aguas calientes-ollantaytambo) Train times will only be confirmed once full amount of tour is paid. The earliest train you could take is the 12:26 and being the 9:20pm the last train. Aymaras expeditions will organize the transport back to Cusco (by taxi or by bus).
Please Note: train times are subject to change depending on Peru rail click here to see timestable and availability.If organized in advance, the train can be upgraded to Vistadome (larger windows than the backpaker cerrojo train to ollantaytambo ) for an increased price of US$ 70 (round trip ).let us know please.
